Claire Atherton

Ontario Breeding Bird Atlas Field Biologist

I spent my summers growing up exploring the natural beauty of the Bruce Peninsula and Manitoulin Island, and was always fascinated by birds. My love for nature led me to pursue a biology undergraduate degree, and later to a Master of Environmental Studies in Social and Ecological Sustainability, where I study habitat restoration strategies for Eastern Meadowlark in Ontario. I initially joined the Ontario Breeding Bird Atlas in 2021 as a volunteer, then transitioned to a full-time role as a Field Biologist in 2023. I’m thrilled to be a part of the Birds Canada team and to work together towards conserving Canada's birds for years to come.
