Graham Sorenson
Science in the North Project Manager
My passion for nature, conservation, and birds began while growing up in rural Vermont. During my undergraduate studies, I had the opportunity to study Leach’s Storm-Petrels on Kent Island, NB and became hooked on bird research/work. Over the course of field technician jobs on Canada Jays, Common Loons, Savannah Sparrows, Island Scrub-Jays, followed by a Master’s degree at the University of Windsor on Thick-billed Murres in Nunavut and northern Quebec, I gained experience and passion for bird conservation, and for birding all the time. I started with Birds Canada in 2018 and worked for three years in British Columbia coordinating Citizen Science programs, outreach events, and research projects. I moved to New Brunswick to coordinate the Atlantic Aerial Insectivore Conservation Program and Maritimes Marsh Monitoring Program for two years. I continue to live in New Brunswick and am now focused on the conservation of Boreal and Arctic birds and habitats as the Science in the North Project Manager. I really enjoy working for Birds Canada where I share my enthusiasm for birds and conservation with incredible volunteers, partners, and staff.
